Ohio Schools Participate in Bullying Prevention Spirit Week

Creating a safe and inclusive environment for students is at the heart of our mission. To further this commitment, New Story Schools and Applied Behavioral Services organized a Bullying Prevention Spirit Week this October, National Bullying Awareness Month, to unite and uplift staff and students across their eight Ohio locations. The spirit week was filled with activities designed to raise awareness about bullying and promote a culture of respect and acceptance. In addition, students and staff participated in dress-up days such as Wacky Wednesday, Zoom Day, and Superhero Day, helping build comradery between students and staff.

Michael Byers, a teacher at the New Story Schools Columbus campus, played a critical role in getting this initiative off the ground by advocating for our schools to formally recognize October as Bullying Prevention Month.Initially, my goal was to improve the culture, attitudes, and reduce the barriers to education of our students. I am so proud to see what my anti-bullying initiative started and how the movement has grown,” Michael said. It was one of those things everyone was ready to tackle, it just took someone stepping up to the plate – ready to hit a homerun for our students. I believe we will spark change within our students, schools, and communities.
