New Story Schools prides itself on hosting events that students would typically participate in in their home high school. In April and May, the Columbus and Independence campuses held themed proms where they rolled out the red carpet and welcomed students, staff, and families for a night of dancing, games, and celebration.
Notably, at the Columbus prom, attendees enjoyed music played by a DJ who was also a previous student at the school!
“At one point, every single person gathered in the gym for a big dance party. It was awesome to see everyone feeling relaxed and truly enjoying themselves,” School Office Director Dana Shelbo said.
At the Independence prom, senior Julia C. was crowned prom queen and will soon be the campus’ first graduate. Her teachers even treated her to some pampering prior to the event, helping her get ready for the big night.
“We all had a great time. I helped Julia do her nails and it made me emotional to see her look so confident and happy,” Independence Teacher Ms. Bre said.
