Independence Campus Principal Presents at Milestones National Autism Conference

On Wednesday, June 14, Independence Principal Berry Thompson presented “Getting to the Heart of the Matter: The Power of Positive Student-Teacher Relationships” at the Milestones National Autism Conference.

Berry is a volunteer member of the Milestones Associate Board and the founding principal at the New Story Schools Independence, OH campus. His presentation focused on current research about the effects of positive student-teacher relationships on learning, identified student-centered classroom practices that increase student achievement, and discussed strategies for increasing student engagement and achievement in classrooms.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity to share my experience and serve as a resource in the autism community in partnership with such an impactful organization,” said Berry.
