New Story Schools Rivermont Lynchburg South teacher, Ms. Melissa Ramsey, was recently one of only 20 teachers accepted into the 2021 Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Summer Teacher Institute. Ms. Ramsey has been with New Story Schools Rivermont for the past 14 years and we are proud of her for pursuing this amazing opportunity.
The Summer Teacher Institute will allow Ms. Ramsey to go on a guided tour of the Jamestown settlement, engage in interactive learning programs, as well as collaborate and interact with fellow teachers and educators to learn more about 17th century Virginia. By then end of the program, teachers will be ready to put what they’ve learned about Virginia history into action with lesson plans and activities developed over the course of the summer.
Vice Principal Tiffany Harris highly recommended Ms. Ramsey for the institute, stating that, “She is always seeking out training opportunities to improve her craft.”
This is an exciting opportunity not only for Ms. Ramsey, but for all the faculty and students who can benefit from her continued development, as well as from the specialized plans and activities she brings back to put into place this fall.
