New Story Schools prides itself on being part of the vast and vibrant special education community in the areas we serve. However, we know that for most families, the need for services and support rarely ends with the school day. Luckily, most areas offer a lot of additional services for emotional support.

For our families in the Wilkes-Barre/Wyoming, PA area here are just a few ideas of other resources.

Emotional Support Resources:

  • Commonwealth Health Counseling Services – offers several services including Transitional Aged Youth Services, Children’s Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services and a Community Counseling Autism Program, as well as many different options for adults.   • Luzerne County Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – offers Family Based Services, Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services, Community and School-Based Behavioral Health Services, Drug and Alcohol Services, Crisis Intervention and more.   • Children’s Service Center – Located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, this center offers many options for families such as ABA and Behavioral Health Services, Autism Family Support, Crisis Interventions, Family Services, and a Youth Skills Development Program.   • Luzerne County CASSP Program – “a comprehensive system of care for children and adolescents with or at risk of developing serious emotional disturbance and/or substance use disorders and their families.
