Autism Resource List - Virginia Beach, VA

New Story Schools prides itself on being part of the vast and vibrant special education community in the areas we serve. However, we know that for most families, the need for services and support rarely ends with the school day. Luckily, most areas offer a lot of additional services for autism support.

For our families in Virginia Beach, VA. here are just a few ideas of other resources.

Autism Resources:

  • Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater (FACT) has a mission “to improve the quality of life for individuals with autism and their families. FACT proudly provides recreational programs designed to enhance the socialization and communication skills of individuals with autism.” They offer camps as well as a social, sports, and leisure programs for people with autism.   • Autism Society of Tidewater Virginia is a local chapter of the larger organization, Autism Society. They provide tons of resources as well as support and advocacy to the autism community. They work to make sure that children with autism receive the best education, that adults with autism have employment opportunities, as well as work to build autism-friendly, inclusive communities.
  • ompass is a behavioral health organization that offers autism services. Their Connections service offers both ABA and family support services for adolescents under the age of 21. The program is designed to improve children’s adaptive behaviors, train and support family members and caregivers to maintain behavior interventions in the home, and to work with other service providers to maintain treatment plans.
