As a leading special education provider, New Story Schools offers authentic learning environments, small class sizes, and individualized learning plans focused on empowerment, skill-building, and academics. Our multi-disciplinary teams of educators, behavior analysts, therapists, and support staff apply evidence-based strategies to promote growth and development, in support of students’ personal goals.

New Story Schools has several locations throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania. We support children and young adult students ages 5-21 in grades kindergarten through 12 experiencing social, emotional, educational, and behavioral challenges. New Story Schools partners with families and school districts to meet the needs of students in a safe learning environment.

All New Story Schools across Ohio adhere to the Ohio Department of Education’s standards, are chartered by the State Board of Education, and provide multiple pathways towards earning an accredited Ohio High School Diploma.

All New Story Schools across Pennsylvania adhere to the licensed private school code and are licensed by the Private Academic License Board of Education. New Story Schools in PA are licensed to educate students with disabilities in grades kindergarten through 12. Students may fulfill graduation requirements established by the state.

Our Roles

Special Education Teacher Roles

Our Special Education Teachers play several roles in the lives of our students. They teach, mentor, guide, and help our students discover a world of new possibilities. You will play an integral role in the success of our students while overseeing the classroom team.

Support Roles

Our support staff work collaboratively with Special Education Teachers and Behavior Analysts to fulfill the individual curriculum and self-care needs of the students, while implementing behavioral plans and protocols. You will be instrumental in the student’s success by supporting, guiding, and helping to educate our students.

Therapy Roles

Our therapists provide a variety of services, depending on our students’ needs. Our team members include Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Counselors, and more. You will teach our students the skills and strategies to help them thrive and manage their individual needs.

Nichole Arnold

Regional Vice President, Operations

Nichole Arnold, MSW, LSW is a Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for New Story Schools. In this role, she oversees seven Licensed Private Academic School locations in Central Pennsylvania. Nichole has over 15 years of experience in supervising and leading an array of employees, from clinicians to educators. She has successfully licensed multiple new school locations and led the expansion of existing schools.

Terri Crahalla

Regional Vice President, Operations

Terri Crahalla, MS, is a Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for New Story Schools. Terri oversees the daily operations of eight Licensed Private Academic Schools in Northeast and Western Pennsylvania. She has over 25 years of experience providing clinical services and leading clinical and academic special education teams.

Paul Cowan

Regional Vice President, Operations

Paul Cowan is Regional Vice President of Operations for New Story Schools in Ohio. Paul oversees all five locations across Ohio and brings many years of experience working as a Teacher, Reading Interventionist, Direct Instruction Trainer, Assistant Director of Scholar Life, Principal, and Director of Operations before joining the Ohio Leadership Team.

Jill Blanchard

Senior Vice President, Operations

Dr. Jill Blanchard is the Senior Vice President of Operations for New Story in Ohio. In this role, she oversees all five New Story Schools in the state, ensuring strong operational and growth strategies. Jill has a wealth of experience and expertise, with over two decades of K-12 educator and school administrator roles. Prior to joining New Story, Jill served as the Regional Vice President of ACCEL Schools, which provides oversight of a network of charter schools in Columbus, Ohio. She served in various roles including teacher and principal and won the Teacher of the Year award in 2002.

Christina Spielbauer

Senior Vice President, Operations

Christina Spielbauer, M.Ed. is the Senior Vice President of Operations for New Story in Pennsylvania. In this role, she oversees Green Tree School & Services. She works to drive operational excellence and growth for all of New Story’s Pennsylvania-based schools and programs. For the past 25 years, Christina has dedicated her life to public education, working in various roles and settings including teacher and principal. Prior to joining New Story, Christina served as the Superintendent of the Carlisle Area School District.
